Settings: Filament Tracking

The Filament Tracking card is the master switch for the whole filament inventory system. With it off, the Filament tab in the sidebar disappears, dashboard filament bars hide, and AMS data is ignored. With it on, you get spool tracking, slot assignments, AMS RFID detection, and the per-printer Manage Filament modal.

Options

  • Enable filament tracking. Master switch. Off by default for users who don't care about spool inventory. On enables the Filament tab and exposes the Manage Filament button on Edit Printer.
  • Auto-create spools from AMS data. Bambu-specific sub-option. When an unknown filament loads into an AMS slot, PrinterMon reads the RFID metadata (type, colour, manufacturer) and creates an inventory spool automatically. Disable if you prefer to manage inventory entirely by hand.

When to leave it off

If you only have one or two printers and one or two colours of filament, the inventory features add ceremony without much payoff. Leave it off — you can flip it on later without losing data.
